Notes for Shannon

Shannon, it was a pleasure learning alongside you in APTAP II. Thank you for serving our community at the EST. Continue searching for the truth, wherever it leads!

Congrats Shannon! You make us all proud! I know my mom would be bragging about you to everyone. Love you so much!

Shannon!

It was so exciting to work with you over the years, and I can’t wait to see all the great things you do in your career.

You truly rocked it with EST and I know you will always be a true defender of the free press.

Congratulations on graduating!

Congrats, Shannon!

You are a strong and inspiring leader for King’s students, and we will miss having your guidance.

Thank you for taking me and so many others under your wing over the past few years. Cannot wait to see what you do next!

Shannon, I am so thankful that college brought our lives. Watching you turn every opportunity into something beautiful from grinding at Daily News, to leading EST, to writing what you love at Rolling Stone has been a privilege and inspiration. You always rise to the occasion. You’ve taught me courage, fortitude, excellence, and compassion. Thanks for your example. Love you! Cheers to the next chapter!

Congratulations Shannon!! Your energy and happiness are contagious and will take you to many amazing places in life! I will forever cherish my friendship with you and look forward to making many more memories! Best of luck in your journey in the adult world, you’ll kill it!

Shannon, thank you for always being a light in my life. I’m so proud of who you have become and I’ve enjoyed growing along side you.

my best friend <3 I am so, so proud of you. you are kind and encouraging and the best support system for your friends. you say what’s true even when it’s hard. you are brave and you never stay down for long. you make me laugh so hard. you always do excellent work. you stand up for yourself and for others. you don’t take yourself too seriously. you understand the importance of eating cereal for dinner. you have impeccable style. you’re selfless and forgiving. living with you is one of the best things I’ve gotten to do in my life. I will always treasure our seinfeld, luck thai, kos, ice cream, popcorn, new girl, early to bed, doors swelling in the summer, “that wasn’t your food?”, you never remembering the dishwasher was running, me never realizing we ran out of toilet paper, magical park slope home. love you always my girl

Shannon, I would have been lost without you! You took me, a freaked out freshman, under your wing and encouraged me to pursue my passions. You are an inspiration and cheerleader to me and I am so grateful. I can’t wait to see everything you accomplish. Proud to be apart of your dynasty -Love your little ❤️

My friend, there have been so many junctures where I have felt your love so keenly over the past year. I remember squeezing the living daylights out of you during one of the hardest semesters of my college career when we were roommates; I also remember you reaching out to educate yourself on respectful inclusion of your peers and colleagues. Also, you singlehandedly convinced me to get a mullet, and we all know I wouldn’t be the same person if I hadn’t. I am so proud of you and all the incredible things you’ve done so far, and I can’t wait to see what you do—but I will always be most proud of your happiness, and your growth, and all the things that freshman year Shannon is so awed by. You did that, dude!! CONGRATS!

Shann, you have been one of the biggest blessings of my college experience. I love your adventurous spirit, honesty, music taste, ridiculous humor that leads to the best inside jokes, and how well you love others. Despite the struggle that was college volleyball, I am so glad it brought us close because I know we will be lifelong friends <3 I am so proud of the woman you've become and the hard work you've put into every internship, job, and opportunity brought your way. Your voice for not only the integrity of journalism but justice and awareness for your Tlingit heritage is so inspiring and I know you will have such a powerful impact on this world because of it. Thank you for putting up with me for 4 years now and for being quite literally one of the coolest people I know. I miss you all the time in the city and cannot wait to come back to Alaska (and see not-so-little Gwennie) so soon. Love you!!

Congratulations Shannon! This is just the beginning of a very bright future. ❤️ Dream big, believe in yourself and reach for the stars. I have no doubt you’ll accomplish great things!!

shan! congratulations!
Your writing is compelling, your thoughts are amazing, and I love the way you see the world. I’m so happy that I got to know you during our time at king’s, and I’m so excited to see everything that you accomplish in the future! It’s been so fun to be engagement buddies with you :’) love you always!

Shannon, Shannon, Shannon. Where would I be without my Santa Barbara sister? Your hard working and compassionate spirit has been such a huge source of inspiration for me these last 5-ish years. I am so proud of how far you have come since our Providence days and I am incredibly thankful that I have gotten to watch you grow. I cannot wait to see what you achieve. Much, much love to you, congrats!!!!

Thankful to know you and to be a friend. Excited to see where your talents will take you. Love you lots, Shan. See you soon xxx

Congrats Shan!!! You did it!! So excited for all the amazing things you will do next!

I am beyond proud of you! You are such a beautiful person and have such a strong drive for life. Whatever you set your mind and heart on, you accomplish! My daughter, my best friend ❤️ May God always be at the center of all you do and may His holy blessings be upon you.

Thank your for bringing such incredible passion and integrity to SBA and King’s!! The EST will always be better for your leadership, and while I’m sure journalism is bound to be thankless, know that there will always be people treasuring your wisdom despite the angry DMs and meetings. Congratulations Shannon!!!!

I still have the First Amendment sticker that you got for me from DC! Thanks for your thoughtfulness, your excitement for journalism, and your eagerness to learn. You’re a natural leader in many ways and I can’t wait to see what cause you decide to champion.
